Kolkata, Jul 18 (UNI) The tea auction held here from July 14-16 witnessed good sales in all the four varities - CTC, Darjeeling, Orthodox and Dust tea.
A Kolkata Brokers' Joint Statistics department release issued here today stated that the CTC tea registered good demand as local dealers were active and Tata Tea and Major Blender operated with fair strength. Altogether 58,783 packages, containing 1,840,249.30 kgs CTC tea, were auctioned.
The Darjeeling high and medium range leaves garnered good support from traditional exporters. About 6,155 packages, containing 1,38,658.50 kgs Darjeeling tea, were auctioned.
Similarly, Orthodox tea was in strong demand from the Middle East and CIS buyers. About 37,023 packages, containing 857,008.08 kgs Orthodox tea, were sold.
The Dust tea registered good demand especially from Tata tea with 21,432 packages, containing 786,822.92 kgs Dust tea, being sold.
