New Delhi, Jul 18 (UNI) In an important development, the Ministry of Defence has asked the three services to present a feasibility report on considering a one time waiver in their qualitative requirements to fill up the 14,000 posts of officers lying vacant.
Defence Ministry sources told UNI that the ministry has suggested that the Armed Forces consider a single time waiver in their qualitative requirements to fill up posts at the officer level and and also review the recruitment procedure.
The sources pointed out that the move of the MoD is aimed at ending the controversy which had arisen out of the recommendations of the VIth Pay Commissions. Officers had claimed that while many of them were leaving Forces for greener pastures, the younger lot was not joining the Armed Forces due to poor remunarations.
The move by the MoD has come at a time when the three Services Chiefs had written a letter to Defence Minister A K Antony, requesting him to resolve the Pay commission imbroglio.
