Govt does not deserve any praise: TDP
Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today alleged that the ''corrupt'' Congress government in Andhra Pradesh did not deserve any praise from Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference here, TDP Legislature Party Deputy Leader N Janardhan Reddy claimed that the state had the notorious distinction of high incidence of suicide by farmers, starvation deaths of handloom weavers, political killings and rape of women.
Dr Reddy said Ms Gandhi did not make any mention about the acute drought, huge demand-supply gap in power generation and shortage of fertilizers in the State.
He contended that she had no official status to visit the state at the expense of the State Government.
He said the TDP had increased the power generation capacity by 4000 MW when it was in power and it could not be blamed for the present power shortage in the state. This was due to the ''wrong policies'' of the present Congress Government, he alleged.
