B'desh condemns alleged killing of 2 BDR personnel by BSF
Dhaka, Jul 18 (UNI) Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury today strongly condemned the alleged killing of two BDR personnel by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in the northern Chapainawabganj frontiers last night.
''We've taken the matter with utmost seriousness. We're waiting for full reports. I have understood that BDR authorities have taken the matter with their Indian counterparts,'' UNB quoted him as saying.
Dr Chowdhury added, ''Such incidents are condemnable and totally unacceptable.'' Col Halim at BDR Headquarters here said the BSF while chasing smugglers, entered into Bangladesh territory in Shibganj subdistrict of Chapainawaganj district. A BDR patrol team boarding a mechanised country boat challenged the BSF, which reportedly opened fire causing the instant deaths of two BDR men.
