Both the children-- Dipesh Praful Vaghela, 10 and Abhishek Shantilal Vaghela, 11--were students of the Gurukul of Bapu Asaram in Sabarmati here.

Gujarat Congress is supporting the Bandh call given reportedly by various social organizations and people in the textile city.

The city presented a scene of abandoned streets and closed shops with the business coming to an almost stand still here.

"We are demanding an investigation into the death of both the boys. 14 days have lapsed since they died but no justice has been delivered as yet. The police have sided with the Ashram, as it has destroyed all the evidences. We are demanding for a CBI probe into the matter so that the truth should come out in the open," said Rajesh Patel, a local resident. "The Jan Sangharsh Samiti has called for the Bandh (shut down) and we are supporting them by closing all the commercial establishments and shops. We want results within one or two days," Patel said.
