69 medical practitioners fined for e waste accumulation
Mumbai, Jul 18 (UNI) The clean up marshals of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have so far fined 69 medical practitioners for accumulation and wrong disposal of e-waste.
Additional Municipal Commissioner R A Rajiv today, in a media briefing, said that the corporation has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on 69 medical practitioners, since the commencement of clean-up marshals drive in the city.
''The e-waste had accumulated since a long time and was likely to cause spreading of infectious diseases in the city. Seeing the gravity of this problem, the fine levied is not very high,'' Mr Rajiv said.
He said that if any complaints are registered against malfunctioning of the clean-up marshals, the civic body will invoke strict action against them.
BMC will also purchase around 40,000 dust bins for disposal of waste in the city soon, Mr Rajiv informed.
