New Delhi, Jul 18 (UNI) Two persons were injured after construction material from a site of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) near the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital fell on a vehicle passing through a road nearby tonight, Metro sources said.
''A crane working at a Metro construction site near Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital malfunctioned this evening, because of which some construction material fell on a Tavera passing on the adjacent road. This incident took place at around 1900 hrs,'' a statement by DMRC said.
The driver of the vehicle, who was trapped in it for some time, suffered multiple fractures in his legs. While two passengers in the vehicle came out safely, one received minor injuries, the DMRC said.
The driver and the injured person have been admitted to RML Hospital.
''The Chief Project Manager in charge of the site and other senior officials have rushed to the spot and DMRC has ordered a full enquiry into the incident,'' a DMRC spokesperson said.
The DMRC will also pay the maximum compensation as per law and look after the complete treatment of the injured,'' he added.
In addition, a full review of all Metro construction activities has been ordered by DMRC in construction sites which are close to public roads and public access areas.
An urgent review meeting has also been called to reinforce all safety measures, the spokesperson informed.
