State to spend over Rs 1800 crore for Bangalore Development
Bangalore, Jul 17 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has earmarked Rupees 1800 crore including Rs 700 crore for the City Metro project, for the development of country's IT and BT hub, Bangalore, in the state budget for 2008-09 presented in the state assembly here today.
Reading the budget proposals Mr Yeddyurappa also announced Rs 300 crore to the Bruhath Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) as a supportive grant.
He said Rs 700 crore would be spent to take up infrastructure facilities to provide drinking water, roads and sewerage facilities.
It was also proposed to take up a 65-km long outer ring road at a cost of Rs 3000 crore under Build, Operate and Transfer model. It was also proposed to spend Rs 350 crore to build ten flyovers and underpasses to ensure hassle free movement of traffic in the existing Bangalore ring road.
Mr Yeddyurappa also announced to build a new layout in the name of Bangalore founder Kempegowda at a cost of Rs 2610 crore to distribute over 60000 house sites. The new lay out would be developed by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
