New Delhi, Jul 17 (UNI) A Class IV school girl was allegedly raped in a government primary school in Ashok Vihar, north-west Delhi, this morning, even as two others managed to flee.
Three boys, reportedly from nearby areas, were involved in the crime, according to sources who said while two were standing outside the school boundary wall, the third scaled the wall and pinned down one girl and sexually assaulted her.
''While one girl was raped, two others managed to escape from the spot.'' The girls -- two from Class II and one from Class IV -- had gone to the toilet, situated behind the two-storey school building, where the incident took place.
The incident, which occurred around 1130 hrs at the MCD primary school in Ashok Vihar, Pocket 'D', Phase III, came to light after the two girls, both from Class II, who escaped spoke of it.
''The teachers who rushed to the spot found the girl bleeding. By then the boy had fled.'' Soon after the incident, a few parents gathered near the school and protested the callous attitude of the school administration, as this was not the first time that students of the school had been assaulted.
A senior police official while confirming the incident said the matter had been reported and investigations were being done.
''A police team has reached the spot and the girls have been sent for medical examination,'' the official said.
Several other policemen have also been sent to maintain law and order, he added.
Police said the accused was in his 20s and was the only person involved in the incident.
The girl, being examined at the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, said the boy stuffed a handkerchief in her mouth and raped her.
Her grandmother told the media that initially the school principal tried to hush up the matter saying it would unnecessarily bring a bad name to the girl and that she would be treated free of cost if she kept quiet.
The girl's father is a factory worker in Narela.
