Lucknow, Jul 17 (UNI) Hitting hard at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati over a disproportionate assets case pending against her, the Congress today demanded the BSP president disclose all her properties and other valuables.

Congress general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in charge Digvijay Singh said everyone should obey the law and if a question had been raised regarding Ms Mayawati's assets, she should clarify the status.

Talking to mediapersons here, the Congress leader said his party had always raised its voice against any illegal act disregarding the might of any person. ''If the Chief Minister has done wrong, she ought to also come forward and provide all the details of her property to clean her image,'' he said.

Rubbishing the charges of horse-trading by the Left and other parties on the Congress-led government at the Centre, he said for UPA, national interest was more important than ruling the country.

''The Congress was always concerned for the country and never focussed on power,'' Mr Singh said, adding the nuke deal was the only option for the country to provide electricity in the rural areas.

Reproaching the BJP for opposing the Nuclear deal, he said former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and the BJP representative at the United Nation Brajesh Mishra had supported the deal in the past, but their opposing it now was surprising.

Commenting on the possible alliance between the Congress and Samajwadi Party in UP during the Lok Sabha polls, he said though nothing has been done in this matter, the Congress was ready for any alliance and the workers would treat candidates of other parties as their own in case of any tie-up.

He also claimed that the BJP will loose its ground in UP, due to its closeness with the BSP and Mr Lal Krishna Advani will have to pay a heavy price for their undertable nexus.

Earlier, Mr Singh addressed a meeting of the state, district and city Congress chiefs asking them to be prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

UP Congress president Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi said the party's 'Hisab mango Abhiyan' was a great success in the state with people joining the drive in a big way.

The meeting, supporting the Indo-US nuclear deal, also decided to make the pact an issue during the Lok Sabha elections.
