Moga, Jul 17 (UNI) The Akali Dal-1920, a splinter group led by former Punjab assembly Speaker Ravi Inder Singh will try and persuade all eight MPs of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to vote for the UPA-government during the vote of confidence on July 22.

This decision was taken at the working committee meeting of the Akali faction held here today.

The meeting chaired by the party president Ravi Inder Singh passed a resolution appealing to all SAD MPs to vote for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the first Sikh PM of the country who had always supported the cause of Punjab.

The party has constituted a 5-member committee of senior leaders to meet SAD MPs and urge them to support Dr Singh on July 22. The committee would commence its meetings with the SAD MPs from tomorrow.

Later briefing mediapersons, Mr Ravi Inder Singh said that his party would lend its support to those SAD MPs who vote for Dr Singh during the vote of confidence. " In the next Lok Sabha polls, we will lend our support to all those MPs who vote in favour of Dr Singh", he added.

Mr Ravi Inder criticised Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal for directing SAD MPs to vote against Dr Singh on July 22. He chose to remind the Chief Minister of the numerious developmental projects that Dr Singh had sanctioned for Punjab in the last one year.
