Ajay Yadav in line for a double in AITA Talent Series

Chandigarh, Jul 17 (UNI) Inform CLTA trainee Ajay Yadav is in line for a double in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament here.

He has entered the boys under-18 singles and doubles finals.

In singles semi-finals, he just dropped one game in each set (6-1, 6-1) before emerging winner against Bramjot Singh of Delhi.

Later in partnership with Amardeep, Ajay Yadav defeated Akshat Joshi and Ashwani by 7-5, 3-6, 10-4 in boys under-18 doubles semi-final.

Hot favourite unseeded Ajay Yadav will challenge sixth seed Akshat Joshi tomorrow for the singles title.

Giant-killer Ajay Yadav scored an impressive 6-1, 6-1 verdict against lucky loser Bramjot Singh of Delhi in the first semi-final match. Spirited Akshat Joshi entered the final with a straight set 6-4, 7-5 win over second seed Himanshu Mali of Delhi in the second semi-final.

Fancied Prabhamrit Kaur Sandhu and Mehak Singh took their appointed place in the girls under-18 singles final. Showing her talent, wild card entry Prabhamrit Kaur Sandhu, who had toppled top seed Bhoomi Parmar of Gujarat in the first-round, majestically marched into the final.

The scorecard 6-0, 6-1 against fifth seed Monica Sant of Delhi in the semi-final, proves that Prabhamrit is in top form as she had ruthlessly demolished her opponents on way to final. Mehak upset second seed Nehal Sahni by 6-0, 6-1 in the second semi-final.

Nehal, however, moved ahead in the final of girls under-14 singles.

The top seed from Delhi dropped just one game in two sets (6-1, 6-0) against fourth seed Charvi Saxena of Chandigarh in the first semi-final.

Nehal will now face local favourite Nikita in the final tomorrow.

Nikita ousted Disha Dang of Delhi in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

Unseeded Fatehdeep Singh of Punjab will lock horns with sixth seed Trivesh Singh of Delhi in the boys under-14 final. Fatehdeep Singh caused a mild upset as he defeated fifth seed Mandeep Kumar of Chandigarh 6-2, 6-3 in the first semi-final. Trivesh also emerged winner with an identical score of 6-2, 6-3 against unseeded Uday Singh Mann in the second semi-final.
