Lucknow, Jul 16 (UNI) Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today charged the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh with targeting his party's MPs in order to prevent them from voting in the confidence motion in favour of the UPA in Parliament.

On the other hand SP leader also alleged that in order to lure the party MPs, the BSP government was withdrawing criminal cases against some of them lodged in jails while some have been approached with money to violate the party whip.

''SP would not join the UPA government at the Centre and will support it from outside while decision on poll alliance with the Congress was yet to be made,'' he reietrated at a press conference here.

''MPs of the SP are intact and will vote in favour of the UPA and the three MPs who have shown their resentment had already snapped their ties with the party three months back'', the SP leader said.

Hitting out at the BSP government, he said it was now targeting the SP leaders who would be the Lok Sabha candidates for the party.

'' BSP is also trying to implicate some of the senior leaders who would be the party candidates in the coming Lok Sabha polls,'' he alleged.

Citing an example, he said false cases had been registered against SP MLA from Sunaha seat in Bareilly Dharmendra Kashyap, the party candidate from Aonla seat.

When asked about the horse trading charges made by the Left and other opposition parties before the July 22 confidence vote in the Lok Sabha, he questioned, ''Where is the money? I want to ask CPI leader A B Bardhan to give me the details so that I can approach for Rs 25 crore,'' he said jokingly.

Reiterating his party's support to the nuclear deal, Mr Yadav said those who were supporting it were doing so for national interest and to make India a power-efficient country.

Criticising the Mayawati government, the SP leader said corruption was rampant in the state with minimum Rs one crore being collected through illegal means by the government daily.

''DGP Vikram Singh, ADG(law and order) Brijlal and district magistrate Lucknow Chandrabhanu are criminals as they were behind the implication of the SP leaders,'' he alleged.

The former CM said the situation in UP was worse than the Emergency period as more than 11,000 fake criminal cases have been registered against SP workers and leaders in the last one year period.
