Shinde launches India's first energy exchange
New Delhi, Jul 16 (UNI) The country's first-ever Indian Energy Exchange was today formally launched by Power Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde.
Stating such an exchange will be useful in meeting the demand and supply gap of electricity, Shinde said the exchange puts the Indian power market on a par with sophisticated exchanges in the world.
Jointly promoted by Financial Technologies India Ltd (FTIL) and Power Trading Corporation (PTC), the nationwide automated and online electricity trading platform went live on June 27. It posted a record trade volume of 7,383 MWh on July 14,FTIL said.
