Portuguese cultural week in Goa to strengthen ties from Nov 7
Panaji, July 16 (UNI) The Consulate General of Portugal in Goa, in collaboration with various cultural clubs, has decided to organise a cultural week ''Semana de Cultura Portuguesa'' from November 7.
The multi-location event features a Portuguese cuisine workshop for housewives and chefs by a Portuguese Chief Carlos Alberto Monteiro, an exhibition by an eminent cartoonist Mario Miranda and display of Azulejos (exquisite Portuguese ceramic tiles).
A musical evening featuring popular Portuguese Pimba singer Nadia, a lavish buffet of Portuguese cuisine, food stalls, traditional Portuguese and Goan folk dances, skit competition for secondary and higher secondary schools, screening of a documentary on ''Art of Amalia'', in collaboration with the Kala Academy, and a gala evening mark the end of the week.
''The purpose of this event is to further strengthen and re-establish traditional, social, cultural and friendly ties between India and Portugal,'' Consulate General of Portugal in Goa Dr Paulo Ndeves Pocinho said here today.
