Patna high court grants bail to LJP MP Surajbhan Singh
Patna, July 16 (UNI) Patna High Court today granted bail to Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Surajbhan Singh who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast track court of Begusarai last month in connection with a murder case.
A Division Bench of the Court of Justice Shiv Kirti Singh and Justice Abhijeet Sinha granted bail to Surajbhan after his counsel Rana Pratap Singh submitted that there was no evidence which proved 'direct involvement' of the LJP MP in the murder case.
Government counsel Shameshwar Dayal opposing the bail plea informed the court that two eye-witnesses had deposed before the court that they had seen the LJP MP shooting from point blank range on farmer Rami Singh, resulting in his death.
Earlier, the same Division Bench had admitted Mr.Singh's petition for hearing challenging the life term awarded to him by the Begusarai fast track court and ordered transfer of the records related to the case from Begusarai court to Patna High Court.
Farmer Rami Singh,a resident of Madhurapur-Purvatola, was killed on January 16, 1992.
