Pak citizens: Kerala to seek Centre' decision
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 16: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today told the State Assembly that the State Government will recommend to the Centre to take an appropriate decision on granting Indian citizenship to Keralites holding Pakistan citizenship.
Replying to a submission, he said about 257 Keralites holding Pakistan citizenship were staying legally and about 111 others were staying illegally in the State.
Stating that those holding Pakistani citizenship were aged and finding it difficult to go to the Foreigners Registration office to sign the papers, the Chief Minister said steps would be taken to reduce the hardships being faced by them.
