Betul, MP, Jul 16 (UNI) Pro-Hindu organisations blocked the Bhopal-Nagpur National Highway for about two hours after 38 cattle carcasses were found in a truck near this district's Padar today, police said.
The demonstrators were pacified by senior officials and the mob lifted the blockade after the lorry was seized.
The truck, heading for Maharashtra from Rajasthan, was stopped 20 km from here after it was learnt that it was carrying 42 cows and calves. Thirty-eight of the cattle were dead.
A Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) release, issued in Bhopal, condemned the incident and demanded stoppage of such transport and stern action against the guilty and warned of an agitation, if no action was taken.
