Chennai, Jul 16 (UNI) The Full Court of the Madras High Court, today withheld its recommendation to the Tamil Nadu Government to allow the Law graduate court staffs to appear in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) examination for the selection of the Civil Judges.

The Full Court meeting held in Chennai, this evening, chaired by Chief Justice Justice A K Ganguly took a decision in this regard and the Registrar General informed the government not to give effect to its recommendations for the ongoing selection.

On July 4, more than one lakh Advocates boycotted the courts in the state to press their demands and their reservations to the appointment of the Civil Judges.

In Chennai, thousands of members of the Madras High Court Advocates' Association (MHAA) took out a procession in the High Court campus. MAHALA President R C Paul Kangaroo and its office bearers met the Chief Justice and presented a memorandum.

Through the memorandum, the MHAA requested the CJ to withdraw immediately the recommendations made to the Tamil Nadu Government in respect of the Amendment to be made in the rules, allowing the ministerial staff to participate in Civil Judges selection as the same recommendation would seriously jeopardise the interest of the practicing lawyers and the judiciary.

The memorandum further requested the State Government not to implement the recommendation in respect of eligibility criteria for the Civil judges selection, and also requested it to follow the judgment of the Court and Supreme Court in this regard.

The Woman Lawyers' Association and Tamil Nadu Advocates Association also participated in the boycott.
