Siliguri, Jul 16 (UNI) The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) today decided to relax the ''selective shutdown'' in the hills from July 21, involving only the closure of the government's revenue offices for an indefinite period.
Earlier, the GJM had called for a selective shutdown of the central, state and hill council offices on July 6 for an indefinite period, GJM's spokesperson Binoy Tamang said.
Meanwhile, GJM president Bimal Gurung told a meeting of Gorkha Janmukti Nari Morcha that they would continue to fight for a separate Gorkhaland state.
In another development in the hills, the Gorkha Janmukti Nari Morcha today urged local Congress MP Dawa Nurbula to refrain from voting the UPA in the vote of trust slated for July 22 in Parliament, unless an assurance from the Centre for a separate state was obtained.
The demand was made to the MP by a letter, which was released to the press.
The letter said since the MP was elected by the hill people, he should abide by the decision and sentiment of the local people.
