Congress condemns politicization of Speaker's office
New Delhi, July 16 : The Congress has strongly condemned attempts to politicise the Constitutional office of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha here today.
Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natrajan said that this has resulted in an unsavoury and public controversy over whether the Speakers should resign.
She said asking for resignation to fulfill party agenda will set a very dangerous trend.
The question of resignation of Somnath Chatterjee, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha has come up as Chatterjee is a Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP and the Left has withdrawn support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government over the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.
