Cong demands probe into police action on YC
Thiruvananthapuram, July 16 (UNI) Condemning the police action against the agitating Youth Congress activists, who were protesting the controversial class VII Social Science Book here, the Congress in Kerala today demanded a judicial probe into the police action.
Addressing newspersons here, Pradesh Congress President Ramesh Chennithala alleged the police used teargas shells and water cannon on the Youth Congress workers who gathered to greet the Youth Congress President T Siddque, who had been on fast for the last eight days demanding the withdrawal of the controversial book.
Hinting the Congress would intensify the agitation against the controversial book, he said the government should withdraw it and convene an all-party meeting to find a solution in this regard.
Pointing out the report by the expert committee, appointed by the government to look into the book, had itself found that certain parts in the book were not suitable, he said the government should withdraw the book.
