Political volatility hampers development: Governor
Panaji, Jul 15 (UNI) Outgoing Governor S C Jamir today warned against frequent ''political volatility and confusion'' in Goa, saying it has been hampering progress and development of the state.
''It is pertinent to note that political stablility and purposefulness is an absolute sine-qua-non for the development and progress of the society,'' Dr Jamir said in a message on the eve of leaving Goa for Maharashtra to take charge as Governor there.
Political stability provides a healthy and conducive environment wherein multifarious schemes and programmes for the welfare of the public can be launched and executed effectively, he said.
Recalling his four-year association with the state and its hospitable, friendly and peace-loving people since he took over in July 2004, the Governor claimed that he had always endeavoured to ''do whatever best he could within the constitutional and legal framework, to help assist the state's progress and peace''.
