Petition against Bar Council Chief dismissed
Chennai, July 15 (UNI) Madras High Court today dismissed a petition filed by Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Member D Selvam against Council Chairman R K Chandramohan continuing in the post.
Dismissing the petition,Mr Justice V Ramasubramaniam, however, restrained the Chairman from modifying the committee in which Mr Selvam represented.
In his writ petition, Mr Selvam submitted a 'power-sharing arrangement' was formalised between him and Mr Chandramohan at the time of election for the chairman's post in 2005.
Mr Chandramohan become chairman under an arrangement in which he would hold the post for the first half of the term and Mr Selvam would succeed him for the balance term, the petitioner submitted.
But Mr Chandramohan denied the existence of any such arrangement and sought a direction from the court to the chairman to handover the post to him.
