Bangalore, Jul 15 (UNI) To raise awareness about the importance and advantages of 'Organic Farming' among elected representatives, the Karnataka Assembly will hold a four-day seminar from June 21.
Addressing a press conference here today, Assembly Speaker Jagdish Shettar said renowned natural agricultural exponent and social worker Subhash Palekar of Maharashtra had agreed to participate in the programme.
He said the event had been organised to educate Legislators on 'Organic Farming' and take it to the people in their respective constituencies. Members of both the Assembly and Council could attend the seminar, which would be held after the session hours of the coming budget session.
Mr Shettar said that for the benefit of the newly elected Legislators, the Karnataka Legislature had planned to conduct a training programme in December. Experts in Law and Parliamentary affairs would guide the law makers.
Referring to the Opposition leaders' charge that he had acted in a 'partisan' manner during the last session, he said he would react to it in the House. ''I feel hurt when Opposition members make such remarks, despite me having acted impartially,'' he said.
He said he would take up the matter with both the ruling and Opposition leaders by holding interactive meetings.
