Bangalore, Jul 15 (UNI) To create awareness about the importance and advantages of 'Organic Farming' among the elected representatives, Karnataka Legislative Assembly will hold a four-day seminar from June 21.
Addressing a press conference here today Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar said renowned Natural Agricultural exponent and social worker Subhash Palekar from Maharashtra had agreed to participate in the programme.
He said that the event had been organised to educate legislators on 'Organic Farming' and take it to the people in their respective assembly constituencies. Members of both Assembly and Council could attend the seminar which would be held after the session hours of the coming budget session.
Replying to questions he said for the benefit of the newly elected legislators, the Karnataka Legislature had planned to conduct a training programme in December. Experts in Law and Parliamentary affairs would guide the law makers.
Referring to opposition leaders charge that he had acted in a 'partisan' manner during the last session, Mr Shettar said that he would react to it in the house itself. "I felt hurt when opposition members made such remarks despite I having acted impartially," he said.
He also said that he would take up the matter with both ruling and opposition leaders by holding a interactive meetings.
