Heroin seized from Samjautha Express, 3 Pakistanis held
Attari, Jul 15 (UNI) The Customs staff seized six kg heroin worth Rs six crore in the international market from three Pakistani nationals who alighted from the Lahore-Attari Samjautha Express here this afternoon.
The three Pak-nationals included two women, all of whom were later apprehended under the NDPS Act after a case was registered at the Gharinda police station by the Punjab Police.
The Customs staff here was tipped off by their Pakistani counterparts at the Wagah railway station across the border. The Pakistani officials made the tip off after recovering 10 kg heroin from two passengers during Customs clearance at the Wagah railway station.
The duo, who were taken into custody at Wagah, had disclosed that another six kg of heroin had crossed the border in the Attari bound Samjautha Express. This information alerted the Customs staff here and they were able to make the seizure after closely checking the baggage of each and every passenger that alighted.
This is for the first time that this form of information has been exchanged between Pakistani and Indian officials.
