Port Blair, Jul 15 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which are reeling under severe shortage of specialist doctors, will soon have the services of 28 doctors.
Official sources here today said the process of recruitment from Kolkata have already begun as the interview for the same has been recently conducted by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary Health, Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
The sources further said, qualified doctors avoid coming to these far-flung islands due to remoteness, even local doctors prefer to practice in mainland for similar reasons.
" To address this issue the local administration had recently initiated a massive drive to recruit doctors from different corners of India, offering them very high salary and other benefits", sources added.
