Tupe, Bongade are president, secretary of state handball association

Pune, Jul 14 (UNI) Former Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee chairman Dilip Tupe and Prof. Suresh Bongade of Wardha have been unanimously elected President and General secretary respectively of the Maharashtra Handball Association (MHA) at the annual general body (AGM) meeting held here today.

A total of 24 out of 28 affiliated district units of the association participated in the AGM and are elected in the executive committee for the four year term from 2008 to 2012.

Prof Bongade, who was unanimously elected for a second term, speaking to the media after being elected said Dilip Tupe has been elected for the first time replacing incumbent Dr P P Punjal.

The committee also chalked up the annual state programme on the occasion.

The 37th senior handball championship for men will be hosted by Wardha, while the women championship will be hosted by the Mumbai suburban district. The dates however, will be finalized after the announcement of the National Championships. Mr Bongade said.

The 31st junior state championship for boys and girls will be hosted by Pune District in the third week of August, Bongade added.

R K Mishra (Retd) Deputy Director Maharashtra Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs acted as the election officer.
