Refinery in SEZ a certainty: Pallam Raju

Kakinada, Jul 14 (UNI) Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju today said establishment of a refinery in Kakinada SEZ whether by ONGC or some other company, was a certainty and one need not have any apprehension about it.

Addressing a function after laying the foundation stone for the construction of Geo-tube sea wall to prevent sea erosion at Uppada village in U.Kothapalli Mandal, 15km from here, he said the SEZ and the petroleum, petro chemical industries investment region would bring out a sea change and prosperity in the area as several industries coming up there, would provide employment to large number of people.

Allaying apprehensions of the people that their villages would be affected by the Industrial corridor, the Minister said that villages would not be touched while laying the roads and other development projects, more so of the fishermen villages.

Sampara MLA Anisetti Bullebbai Reddy, who presided over the function, said the geo-tube sea wall construction would be taken up in the first phase over two kms between Ameenabad and Uppada at a cost of Rs 12.61 Crore and the remaining two kms of area would be covered in the next phase.

He thanked the minister for fulfilling his election promise on construction of a protective wall to save the villages from the effect of sea erosion.
