New York, July 14 : The owner of a New York limousine company that boasts of driving some of Hollywood's A-list celebrities, is battling claims that she films her famous clients.

Gale Rickett, owner of Ready to Roll, defended herself by saying that the rumour, picked up by a gossip site TMZ.com, is nothing but a bogus smear.

"The key to this industry is discretion that our clients can rely on. These claims have left me terribly shaken up and upset," The New York Daily News quoted Rickett, as saying.

According to the reports by TMZ, the wife of a disgruntled former chauffeur has been calling customers to say the company films A-listers like Britney Spears, and this has made the celebs "outraged."

However, Rickett said that though her vehicles in New York and Los Angeles do have cameras, but they are not for filming famous names on the back seat.

"We were advised by our insurance company to install 'Drivecams' in our cars, which face out the front window and are switched on in the event of an accident. I'd never dream of videotaping our clients - their privacy has always been our top priority," she said.

Though she is suspicious about the source of these rumours, she said that she has no plans to take legal action.

"To be honest, I'm hoping this whole thing will go away," she said.
