India to augment security at embassy in Afghanistan: MHA
New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI) India is likely to augment the security cover at its embassy in Afghanistan in view of the recent terror attack that killed 42 people, including two senior officials.
Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta told reporters here today that a decision in this regard is being made following the assessment of the situation in Afghanistan by senior officials of the Indo Tibetan Border Police who accompanied Foreign Secetary ShivSankar Menon to Kabul.
Mr Gupta said the team reviewed the security situation and the threat perception following the terror attack at the embassy. India will augment the strength of the ITBP in Afghanistan based on the requirement, he said.
National Security Advisor M K Narayanan has already hinted at the involvement of the ISI in attack on the embassy.
