Govt. committed to implement Vaidyanathan Committee Report
Karkala, Karnataka, Jul 14 (UNI) The Karnataka Government was committed to implement Vaidyanathan Committee recommendations to bring in amendments to the state Cooperative Act, Minister for Cooperative Laxman Savadi said today.
The amendments would be placed before the Assembly Session during the Winter Meeting, he said addressing a press conference here.
Mr Savadi said the recommendations approved by the Centre was singed by the Governor on March 24 giving his consent. The government had already initiated process for implementing the report.
As the leaders from the cooperative sector were pressing for some changes in the report, the ministry had already held two rounds of talks with the leaders and experts from the cooperative sector. The ministry would also hold discussions at both district and taluk levels before taking up decision on bringing suitable modifications in the report, he said.
He said he had also instructed the officials from his department to identify the villages lacking Cooperative society units. After receiving the report from the officials, the ministry would take steps to set up Cooperative societies in these rural areas with the involvement of the farmers.
