3 more succumb to rain related diseases, toll rises to 44
Mumbai, Jul 14 (UNI) Three more persons have succumbed to rain related diseases in the Metropolis, taking the death toll to 44, since the onset of monsoon this year.
According to civic officials, two of the male patients, aged 23 and 25, died due to malaria at the civic-run Rajawadi and Kasturba hospitals respectively, and a 25 year old male patient succumbed to leptospirosis at KEM hospital.
In the last 24 hours, as many as 229 patients have been admitted in the civic run hospitals for various ailments. Of them, 144 patients have been admitted for fever, 46 for gastroenteritis, one for leptospirosis and 38 for malaria, the officials added.
