New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) Amid intelligence reports about fresh security threat to Indians in Afghanistan, a high-level team led by Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon rushed to Kabul today to review the security arrangements at the Indian embassy there and have discussions with Afghan authorities.

The visit comes barely six days after the Indian embassy in the Afghan capital was attacked by a suicide attacker killing the Indian Defence Attache and Counsellor and three other embassy staff.

National Security Advisor M K Narayanan has blamed the attack on Pakistan's ISI and said India had concrete evidence.

The Foreign Secretary, who will be in the Afghan capital for two days, will discuss with Afghan authorities ways to strengthen security at the Indian embassy and how the threat needed to be countered.

The visit also comes amid renewed threats by the Taliban against Indian nationals involved in various projects in Afghanistan.

The Taliban have also stepped up their activities in various parts of the war-torn country, posing a threat to the country's and the region's stability.

The sources said India also plans a major revamp of security at its embassy and at various installations being constructed with Indian assistance.

The 228 km Zaranj-Delaram highway in Southwestern Afghanistan, being constructed by India, has been a major target of attacks by the Taliban who want all work to be stopped on it.
