Indian gymnasts get 6 medals in international games
Chandigarh, Jul 13 (UNI) Indian gymnasts claimed six medals, including a gold, in the fourth Children of Asia International Games which were conducted at Yakutsk (Russia) from July 3 to 13.
According to a communication received here from Gymnastic Federation of India (GFI) secretary Kan Singh Rathore, Siddharth Verma gave an outstanding performance as he struck gold in pommel horse in the age category of 13-14 years. Siddharth performed his routine flawlessly to claim silver in floor and bronze in horizontal bar.
In the same age group, Saurabh Sharma bagged silver medal in horizontal bar.
The third Indian gymnast to obtain podium position was Abhishek Chatterjeet who got silver in horizontal bar in the age group of 15-16 years. Vikas Bhatia added silver to the Indian kitty as he captured second position in pommel horse in the 15-16 years age group.
According to Rathore, the GFI had sent a 19-member team, including officials. They competed in the men and women artistic gymnastics and rhythmic competitions.
Congratulating the gymansts, Rathore thanked the Indian Olympic Association for sendign the Indian team to Russia.
