Chandigarh, Jul 13 (UNI) Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister A C Choudhary, who is also the President of Haryanavi Punjabi Welfare Sabha today demanded reservation benefits in jobs for the Punjabi community.
Mr Choudhary was addressing the gathering of the Punjabi Welfare Sabha at Panchkula today.
On this occasion, the Minister also demanded that freedom fighter status should be given to migrated Punjabi's as they had made supreme sacrifices during independence struggle. Besides, atleast one university should be set up in the name of a prominent or legendary Punjabi personality.
Mr Choudhary also demanded on behalf of the Sabha that atleast one acre plot should be provided to Haryanavi Punjabi Welfare Sabha in every district for constructing of dharamshalas.
While lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the steps taken for the welfare of Punjabi community, Mr Choudhary said that 12 out of 15 nominated Chairmans of Improvement Trusts were Punjabis.
Mr Choudhary announced that a Punjabi Sammelen would be organised in the month of September or October this year.
