Tiruchirapalli, July 13 (UNI) One person was killed and 53 injured in three different road accidents in Tiruchirapalli, Karur and Ariyalur districts of Tamil Nadu today.
Police said, a cyclist was run over by a speeding lorry at Karumandapam, on the outskirts of the city early today.
The deceased was identified as Palani of Ramjee Nagar.
As many as 30 people were injured when a State Transport Corporation bus, proceeding to Coimbatore from here in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a lorry at Elavangkattupudur village on the Karur-Coimbatore national highway near Karur.
The injured were admitted to private and government hospitals at Karur, police said.
In another incident, 23 people were injured when a Government owned bus in which they were travelling collided with a cement-laden mini lorry at Maruthaiyan Kovil village on the Ariyalur-Perambalur highway near Ariyalur.
While 21 injured were treated at the Government hospital in Ariyalur, two others were referred to Government Medical College Hospital, Thanjavur, police added.
