Vacant village assnt posts to be filled up soon: Minister
Tiruchirapalli, Jul 12: The Tamil Nadu Government would fill up about 17,000 Village Assistant posts soon to ensure effective administration in the villages, Revenue Minister I Periyasamy said today.
Participating in the 15th State Conference of the Tamil Nadu Government Village Assistants Association here, he said the government would consider the plea for promotion of qualified village assistants.
Briefing newspersons on the resolutions adopted at the conference, Association State President S Palani and Treasurer P Madhanagopal said the conference had urged the State Government to raise the basic pay of village assistants to Rs 2,550 on par with group four 'D' grade employees of the state government, allot 20 per cent of the village administrative officer posts to them and provide pension for all those who retired after 1980.
