UP CM initiates plantation scheme in Bundelkhand
Lucknow, Jul 12 (UNI) With a view to permanently eradicate drought like situation in Bundelkhand region, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has initiated a drive to plant 10 crore saplings during this monsoon season.
UP chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta in a meeting today apprised the officials of the drive and directed the concerned departments to candidly implement the scheme to its fullest.
Mr Gupta said Rs 433 crore would be pooled in to sow 10 crore plants in 2.94 lakh km sq area, where lemon, neem, jamun, shesham, amla, imli, banyan and other similar species would be planted.
Besides, water and environment conservation works would also be done, he said.
The districts, which would be covered under the drive, are Banda, Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Jalaun, Jhansi and Hamirpur.
