Puducherry, Jul 12: The Privilege Committee of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, which met today under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker A V Sreedharan to discuss the issue of the alleged 'objectionable' remarks made by Chief Secretary Rakesh Bihari against the Council of Ministers at a review meeting, decided to summon the officials who had participated in the meeting.
Talking to newspersons after the meeting, Mr Sreedharan said the officials would be summoned on Saturday next, after which further action would be taken.
It may be noted that Mr Bihari had allegedly made some remarks against the Council of Ministers at a review meeting here on June 25. Taking strong step to this, legislators R Viswanathan (CPI), R Siva (DMK) and P Angalan (Congress) had lodged a complaint with Speaker R Radhakrishnan seeking to consider it as a breach of privilege and initiate action against the Chief Secretary.
Mr Radhakrishnan referred the matter to the Privilege Committee which met on July 4 and issued notice to Mr Bihari, answerable by 1700 hours yesterday. Mr Bihari gave his reply in writting yesterday morning itself. It was placed before the committee today and the committee decided to summon the officials participated in the review meeting.
