Inaugurating the GECON 2008 and launch of medical equipment capsule endoscopy of MedIndia hospital here, he said the MCI should organise camps, in coordination with non-voluntary organisations and the government to create awareness among people.

The governor said diet played an important role in maintenance of good health and people should be educated on healthy food habits, exercise, hygiene and sanitation.

Citing statistics, the Governor said about 12 per cent of males and 16 per cent of females in the country were obese. In Tamil Nadu, 19.8 males and 24.4 per cent females were obese.
