One killed, two injured during Dimapur bandh
Kohima, Jul 12 (UNI) One person was killed and another injured in inter-factional clashes during yesterday's 12-hour Dimapur bandh, official sources said here today.
The bandh was called by the Western Sumi Students' Union(WSSU) in protest against factional clashes and killings.
Sources said the bandh was overall peaceful except the clashes between rival factions of NSCN.
They said a group of NSCN-IM rebels barged into Lothavi village in search of GPRN/NSCN cadres. Suspecting their hideout, they targeted a civilian's house and fired several rounds injuring an inmate. He was rushed to a nursing home where he succumbed to injuries later in the evening.
The NSCN-IM cadres reportedly left Rs. four thousand for the treatment of another injured person.
Later police along with security forces rushed to Lothavi but by then the cadres had reached Khuboto town where the GPRN/NSCN ultras were present. In the ensuing gun battle one person was injured when a bullet hit his leg.
Fearing such attacks, people took shelter in a Church. The cadres left the town after the district administration and police intervened.
