New Delhi, July 12 : The Congress party has decided here today to spread the message that the Indo-US civil nuclear deal is "good and is beneficial for India" across the country ahead of the trust vote in the Lok Sabha on July 22.
After a meeting of the Congress General Secretaries, party media department chief M Veerappa Moily said to media persons, "The Congress president has asked us to inform the people that the deal is good for the country".
Moily said, "We have been given the task to convey the message about the importance of the nuclear deal and how important it is for the energy security of the country".
Also, another meeting of the Publicity Committee of the Congress party was held in New Delhi today to decide the strategy on how the deal would be projected before the people and how potent it is as an electoral issue.
"There are some lobbies in India and also America who do not want the deal to go through," Moily further added.
The survival of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government depends on the trust vote in the Lok Sabha following the Left withdrawal of support.
