Inter-state criminal held, gold worth Rs 3 lakh seized
Vijayawada, July 12 (UNI) Police today arrested an inter-state criminal, allegedly involved in house burgluries, and seized 24 tolas of gold ornaments worth about Rs three lakh.
Addressing a press conference here, City Police Commissioner K V Rajendranath Reddy detailed the modus operandi of the arrested Thota Krishna Mohan.
He said the accused, would identify locked houses and later gain entry into the house at night time by breaking the lock with an iron rod. He would then decamp with the booty.
Mohan committed offences in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram, Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Gudivada in Andhra Pradesh and in Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
He was involved in house burgluries for the last 18 years and jailed for 11 years.
The accused would be produced before the court, he added.
