AP Congress to launch membership drive on July 14
Hyderabad, Jul 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President D Srinivas today said the party's membership drive would be launched here on July 14.
Addressing a press conference here, he said AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs M Veerappa Moily would inaugurate the drive by enrolling the names of PCC President D Srinivas and Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan, the state headquarters of the Congress party.
He said a meeting of the District Congress Committee Presidents would be held on the same day and the membership drive books would be handed over to them to steer at the district level from July 21 and at the mandal level from July 28.
All the local MLAs, MLCs and Members of Parliament would actively participate in the membership drive, which would be taken up in a systematic way using the latest technology, he said.
The details would be incorporated in the website of the party and it would be updated weekly, he added.
He said the membership drive of the party would be conducted once in three years and the present membership was 34 lakhs, and the target for this time was to achieve 50 lakhs.
