Jaisalmer, Jul 11 (UNI) A local court has granted compensation of Rs One lakh to a woman for a failed sterilisation operation which had resulted in the birth of third daughter to her.
District and Session Judge S R Meghvanshi has awarded the compensation with due interest with effect from July 23, 2001, to Anusuiya Rathore who had conceived and given birth to her third daughter in December 2001 despite vasectomy operation performed at the local Jawahir Hospital in 1999.
Rathore, the wife of a local three-star hotel employee had filed a case before the Rajasthan High Court against the doctors and the state government praying for compensation amounting to Rs 32.43 lakh, however, the court dismissed the case for want of due court fees.
Later the, couple had filed a fresh compensation case before the Jaisalmer District and Session Judge on July 23, 2001 praying for compensation and pleaded that they were unable to afford parental care of three daughters.
meanwhile, the woman had written a letter to the Chief Minister Office seeking permission to kill the third daughter as her family was not in a position to take care of three children,however, the CMO had directed her not to render any harm to the child and assured that the state government would take appropriate action in her case.
