West Bengal Assembly adjourned to pay respect to Rubi Noor

Kolkata, Jul 11 (UNI) The West Bengal Assembly was today adjourned for two hours to pay respect to Congress MLA Rubi Noor, who passed away here last night.

The body of Mrs Noor, sister of late Railway Minister Gani Khan Chowdhury, was brought during the day to the Assembly premises where Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and other members of the House offered floral tributes.

Later, her body was taken to the State Congress office where a large number of party leaders and workers paid their homage to the departed soul.

According to party sources, Mrs Noor's body would be taken to her ancestral house in Malda in the evening for last rites.

Mrs Noor, the MLA for Sujapur, breathed her last at a Salt Lake nursing home. She was 65 Mrs Noor was suffering from lung cancer.
