Patna, Jul 11 (UNI) Criticising the eagerness of the UPA government over the Indo-US nuke deal, the JD(U) today alleged that the Union government was dancing to the tune of the US.
JD(U) National General Secretary cum spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari said here that the Centre had assured to move ahead on the deal only after seeking a confidence motion. However, after his meeting with the US President during his Japan tour, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ignored the assurances he had made.
Mr Tiwari said that in the name of rules and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Centre on earlier occasions had pleaded that it could not make the deal public but it had been exposed even without its passage by the agency. The contradictions in the words and act of the central government were matters of serious concern before the country he said adding that the nation was hardly going to be benefitted with the deal.
The eagerness shown by Mr Singh after his meeting with the American President was highly condemnable and against the sovereignty of the country, he maintained.
