Rosaiah to open renovated Gandhi Bhavan on July 13
Kakinada, July 11 (UNI) Finance Minister K Rosaiah would inaugurate the renovated Gandhi Bhavan, one of the landmarks in the Kakinada City, on July 13.
The seven-decade-old Gandhi Bhavan, which was once the centre of Harijan Seva Dal activities, had been renovated at the cost of Rs 25 lakh, MLA Mutha Gopalakrishna told a press conference here today.
He said the building, which was damaged in the 1969 cyclone, was renamed Gandhi Mandir.
''It will be a centre for propogating Gandhiji's ideals. Regular yoga classes and prayers will be held besides organising lectures on Gandhian philosophy,'' he said.
Black and white photos depicting various important events in Gandhiji's life adorn the walls. The statue of Mahatma in a sitting posture spinning the charkha has also been installed at the centre of the hexagonal building.
The Harijan Seva Dal is making arrangements to set up a sewing centre for women in the campus.
